Claudia Vanney, both a doctor in Physics and a doctor in Philosophy, and winner of the first edition of the Expanded Reason Awards, will give the second conference of the cycle Horizons of Expanded Reason organized by the program in Biotechnology of the University Francisco de Vitoria.
The conference will be based on the work she presented to the Awards together with Juan F. Franck. Her project is called Determinism or Indeterminism? Great questions from science to philosophy. This book is the result of a collaborative work between physicists, biologists, neuroscientists, philosophers and theologians, from over 15 universities in 6 different countries.
During the years 2013-2015, the editors promoted several activities focused on the debate about determinism in nature, investigating epistemological and anthropological questions, in addition to questions about meaning. Thus, a research path was created that opened scientific views to the transdisciplinary perspective of philosophy and theology. The result of these efforts was captured in this book. Each chapter was written in co-authorship by a scientist and a philosopher, who continued their dialogue until reaching an integrated text. (+ info)
